Congressional Medal of Honor Society Tartan Project

Welcome to your Congressional Medal of Honor Society Tartan Uniform Blazer Page

The Olde School Blazer Company is proud to partner with the Congressional Medal of Honor Society as a way to bring you your artisanal, handmade Tartan Uniform Blazer. Please note that as our goods are custom and handmade, they take time to craft. For example, our custom blazers take approximately 10-12 weeks.

Next Steps

  1. Have a tailor measure you for each of the required measurements by June 19, 2023.
If there is not a tailor available, please follow the enclosed instructions.
  2. Fill in all measurements in the blanks below.
  3. We will send you a mock blazer (toile) with additional instructions so we can perfect your pattern before making your custom hand sewn Congressional Medal of Honor Society tartan blazer.

By using a toile (or “mock” blazer), we can adjust a garment with enhanced knowledge and understanding about the fit and your personal preferences. Provide your measurements, then we make your toile and send it to you to see how you like the fit. From there, we work together to alter your “pattern” so your final custom blazer fits how you want. The toile dramatically enhances the tailored effect of your blazer.

Name
Slim a very fitted, tailored cut. Very elegant and stylish, it is narrower in the arms, chest and waist.
Regular - a traditional tailored blazer cut that fits to flatter most physiques. It is has more space in the arms, chest and waist than a Slim cut.
Relaxed Fit - a blazer cut that is tailored and flattering yet provides more room in the arms, chest and waist.
Do you have a blazer that you love the fit? Please let us know the size.
Measure around your body at the widest/broadest part of your chest. Measure high enough to go across the broadest part of your lats and shoulder blades and your breasts or pecs. Ensure the tape lays straight and flat across the back (no sagging), but allows for 2 fingers’ width inside the tape to ensure the blazer will not be too tight.
A true waist measurement, not a jeans or pant waist. To find your true waist, start at your belly button and wrap it around your waist at this height. Again, leave 2 fingers’ width inside the tape measure so you don’t receive a blazer too tight!
Measure around the largest part of your buttocks. An extra inch or two won’t feel or look noticeable, but an inch too small will make your blazer unwearable.
Take wearing a well-fitting blazer or jacket.
Measure from the end of the shoulder seam (where the sleeve is sewn into your jacket), over the top of the back all the way to the other shoulder seam.
Take wearing a well-fitting blazer or jacket.
From the bottom of the collar to where you want the bottom of your blazer to end. Most accurate when one hand holds the tape at the top while the rest of the tape hangs. The other hand holds the tape in at the small of the back. Release top hand tape while the other hand is holding it in place at the small of the back. The free hand then marks the correct length.
Take wearing a well-fitting blazer or jacket.
From the top of the shoulder seam (where the sleeve meets the shoulder) to the bottom of the sleeve where you want your cuff to end. Please choose the cuff length that suits your personal preference. Have someone help you so the tape is not twisted and the bottom lays flat on the outside of the wrist.
